Karla M. Pérez Torres (MS)


Karla M. Pérez Torres holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology - Human Focus from the University of Puerto Rico, Bayamón Campus and a Master's degree in Health Sciences with a major in nutrition from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. During her time as an undergraduate student, she was an assistant in a study on risk factors for asthma. This research led her to do her master's thesis on nutrition as a risk factor for asthma in the pediatric population of Puerto Rico. In addition, she worked as an intern at the Puerto Rico Research, Science and Technology Trust's Clean Water Project, where she brought water contaminant education to communities that manage their drinking water service.

Research interests: She is interested in chronic disease research with a focus on prevention. She is also interested in studying about regulations that help maintain people's wellness and optimal health. In 2019 she began working as a research assistant for the CCRHP and currently serves as coordinator of the MONOCOV Project.
